Hole 14 – “Alps”
Even as a template hole — Alps, so named for the pair of bunkers at the top of the hill short of the green — No. 14 at Midland Hills is one-of-a-kind. Drives to the wide fairway must avoid the punishing left fairway bunker. Approach shots must either clear the Alps bunkers or run through the gap between them, down the hill to another large, undulating green. Prepare to be amazed when you reach the crest of the hill. (Hint: The flagstick on No. 14 is extra-extra-long.)
